Week 12- How To Eat a Soft Taco!

Hola Todos!

Right after emailing on Monday the sun came out and it started warming up! It always seems like whatever I say about the week changes as soon as I leave the ciber haha. We finally got an apartment approved, and we also got it approved for us to paint our apartment too, which I can't decide if that was a good idea after spending today dealing with the Argentine construction in our pension haha.

Monday I cut Elder Peterson's hair and it actually turned out really good (the first one was definitely not good haha). We also did all the normal cleaning, buying groceries, and resting a little. Being out on the mission has really helped with my budgeting and money management seeing as with rent, electricity, water, and our money for the month combined, we receive less than the people on welfare! But we don't really need that much anyways haha. We also had a great lesson with a part member family, the Bordon family.
Tuesday we had an amazing lesson with a new investigator, Jorge Aguirre, who is definitely going to be baptized. That night as Elder P. was coming out of the bathroom I scared him sooo bad! It was super funny!
Wednesday was really pretty, our appointments fell through and did not teach anyone. Right before lunch we were walking home and my left sole on my maroon shoes fell off! I didn't have any paracord with me (what!? i know right! bummer) so we took one of Elder Peterson's shoelaces and tied it around my shoe to hold my sole on! I really wish I would have taken a picture of it. Elder Aguirre came in that afternoon and I also got my shoes fixed at a shoe shop (only 4 bucks for sewing on both soles!)
Jueves we taught this ancient man with Elder Aguirre. I'm not sure how much he understood but he repeated every 4th or 5th word we said so we will see what happens with that haha. I was mostly worried that he was going to die before we finished the lesson!
Friday was Zone Meeting and we had everyone come into Mercedes! I got to see Elder Landers again, he hasn't changed at all and says that he is super lost in spanish too haha. We made tacos (and made about 30ish tortillas) and they were super good! Argentine food is good but not very Mexican food like. But I learned a secret to eating soft tacos: on one of the sides of the taco you fold the bottom corner up just a bit (so it goes up into the taco) and then the juice and everything doesn't drip all over! (and apparently when you eat them you hold your pinky up too)
Saturday we taught the most lessons ever in a day which was great and had lunch at Pres. Ramires' house. The President's dad was sitting outside and gave me a handshake, and when I pulled my hand away there was the biggest loogie I have ever seen on the middle of my hand. It was so gross!!
Sunday none of our investigators came to church (which no one has come yet so we are on a streak right now haha). We didn't get to teach anyone but did get an apartment approved! I don't have a picture of it but i'll send one next week:)
Monday was transfers but I'm still in Mercedes so it was just a normal day! (other than taking the hermanas stuff to the terminal at 4 in the morning). I'm pretty sure the song should go "called to serve the sisters in our mission" because we do a lot of serving them!
Today we have spent the entire day trying to repaint the pension! I don't know if you remember the pictures but there is a lot of fixing to do on the walls. The Argentine way to build is to have concrete walls (sometimes with brick in the center) and very important don't seal the concrete for moisture, Then put about a 1/4 in of putty on the wall and paint over it all. What they haven't figured out yet (for as long as they have been doing this) is that if there is moisture from pipes (which are sealed in the concrete) then the putty gets wet and mouldy and falls off. So we are working on that. Also we weren't thinking and just bought the cheapest paint we could find....big mistake haha. I'm pretty sure they put one gallon of regular paint in a five gallon bucket and filled the rest with water haha. But the project is coming along.

Till next week!
