Week 8- Mercedes, Argentina

Hola!

This past week we have been getting more into the groove of things. They whitewashed Mercedes so both my companion and I are figuring things out here. We haven't had much success as I would like this week. Lots of contacting with very few people that are interested.
On Wednesday we had a district meeting and then afterward the companion of the district leader, Elder Aguirrez, stayed with us for another day while the district leader, Elder Castro, went to Resistencia for a leader meeting. That night we bought 1.5 kilos of helado (ice cream) for Elder Peterson because it was his 1.5 year mark.
On friday we had an audit for the branch and since Elder Peterson and I are the counselors for the branch we went early and organized all of the expenses for the last 6 months. That night after a bunch of searching for members whose houses don't exist haha, we had a really good lesson with one of the members. Oh and while we were walking on Friday Elder Peterson said "Ahh! The mosquitoes me attacked!!" haha his English is suffering.
Saturday we tried to see if Christian was home but he ended up not being there so we went to our lunch appointment with President Ramirez and it was really good. We had Argentine pizza and some yam type things that had meat inside. They were really good. After that was a branch activity, a dia del niƱos and a baby shower. It was very interesting haha. One of the games was blindfolded kids feeding us whipped cream. The only problem was that the hermana missionaries gave the kids plastic forks instead of spoon so we got stabbed in the mouth and face!
On Sunday I conducted sacrament meeting. That was fun and interesting at the same time because I still can't speak Spanish but I think I did okay. The speaker wasn't working for the microphone (because of a busted audio cord from the mic) but President Ramirez thought that changing the power cord to the speaker would fix it haha. Grampa Tuttle, I'm starting to understand how you felt in Africa with the mentality here. But I love Argentina and the people love to talk. If they didn't just sit around all day I don't know if we would ever talk to anyone. Spanish is still difficult and I don't understand most of what people are saying but i'm getting better. People are making a little more sense or at least I can recognize that they are saying words instead of just a bunch of syllables! haha. Todo esta bien aqui en Argentina!

Gracias todos por sus oraciones y sus cartas!

Hasta Lunes,

Elder Mason Tuttle
